The appearance of the jaguar closely resembles that of the leopard, however the Jaguar is physically stronger. In terms of actual size the Jaguar is only smaller than lions and tigers.

Most big cats kill their prey by suffocation, however the jaguar actually uses its powerful jaw to crush the skull of its prey. It is not afraid to enter the water in pursuit of its prey and usually makes its home near a source of water. Jaguars do not hunt in pacts unlike many of the other wild cats.

Length: 5 to 6 feet without tail
Weight: Anywhere from 100 to 300 pounds
 
In northern areas jaguars tend to be larger and they get smaller in size as you extend towards the south.
