Unlike many types of wild cats the cougar generally
lives by itself. It also hunts by itself which is also
rare for wild cats.
Only jaguars, lions and tigers
are larger than cougars. They are found throughout almost
all areas of Central and South America. In North American
they can be found in the central and western regions.
Cougars are very quick cats which allows them to efficiently
chase and kill their prey. They have also been known
to hide and wait for the prey to stumble upon them.
These characterisitics make it a very versatile predator.
The cougar has been known to hunt a whole range of prey.
Their favourite and most often eaten food is probably
deer but they have been known to eat animals as small
as mice.
